Yamaha India has started accepting bookings for its soon-to-launch Ray 125cc scooter. The company is aggressively marketing the scooter: it gave a sneak-peek during the Auto Expo earlier this year to gauge public interest and, more recently, roped in actor Deepika Padukone to endorse it. Now, the company is wooing potential customers through the ‘Yamaha Ray – Guess and Win’ contest.
The first 1000 people to pre-book the Ray have been promised ‘assured’ Yamaha-branded merchandise. The highlight of the contest is a chance to win the Ray by guessing its correct ex-showroom price in the respective states. To enter the contest, participants (non-customers are also eligible) will have to fill a form in the India Yamaha Motor website and quote the price they think the Ray will be priced at. In case of multiple correct entries, the winner will be judged through a lucky draw. The contest will be open till September 13, 2012, in all states except Tamil Nadu.
Upon launch, the Yamaha Ray, aimed mainly towards women, will lock horns with the Honda Activa, Suzuki Access, Hero Maestro, Mahindra Duro among others. The company has not revealed any details of the scooter, it will closely resemble the concept shown during the Auto Expo. This means that it would have telescopic suspension, contemporary styling and lots of under-seat space.
