Yamaha XSR 155 To Launch In India Soon

India Yamaha Motor has announced a growth of 4.8 per cent in domestic sales in October 2012 compared to October 2011. The Japanese two-wheeler maker sold 39,368 units in the country in October 2012 as against 38,299 units in October last year.
Aside from a rise in domestic sales, Yamaha also registered an increase in exports. Exports rose to 10,154 units in October 2012 compared to 9,011 units during the same month last year. Overall, Yamaha sold 49,522 units in October 2012, up 5 per cent compared to last year's 47,240 units.
Yamaha India is focusing on the scooter market to improve its overall sales and increase market share. The company's latest offering, RAY, targeted at young, urban women has been well received. With the addition of Ray in its portfolio, India Yamaha Motor is looking at an overall market share of 10 per cent with 15 per cent coming from the scooter segment by 2016. Making a note of the results, Jun Nakata, Director – Sales & Marketing, India Yamaha Motor, said, “We are very pleased with the sales growth that we’ve witnessed in the past month on account of our strong product portfolio, new launch in the scooter segment with RAY and high customer confidence in us. The new scooter RAY which is designed and conceptualised keeping in mind the young urban woman’s requirement of a stylish, convenient and feature-rich product has received superb response from our target customers.”
