The Yamaha VMAX recently completed 30 years of existence and for this purpose the Japanese two-wheeler giant released a special edition of the burly power cruiser christened the Carbon. While unveiling the Yamaha VMAX Carbon, it had said that it will release a special “yard built” motorcycle and for this purpose have unveiled the customised version of the VMAX that has been named Infrared. The Yamaha Infrared custom motorcycle has been built by Germany’s JvB-moto. According to Yamaha, the Infrared is an amalgamation of a dragster and café racer. The Yamaha VMAX Infrared is the 12th motorcycle to be commissioned by Yamaha under the “yard built” project that was intiated by the Japanese bikemaker a few years ago.
The bike features a hand crafted aluminium mudguard above which sits a headlamp case that has been crafted from carbon fibre that is placed between two beefy USD forks. Other additions on the Yamaha Infrared custom motorcycle includes clip-on bars, carbon fibre tank cover and special air intake scoops crafted from stock aluminium units from the original 80’s VMAX. The rear is beautifully finished with another a custom carbon tail unit that flows beautifully with the sculpted profile of the motorcycle. The exhaust system is a custom 4-into-1 pipe with a growling Termignoni silencer. The retro colour scheme on the custom cafe racer is based on the livery of Yamaha’s 1985 GP team. The Yamaha VMAX Infrared has to be among the most beautiful custom motorcycles commissioned by a major two-wheeler manufacturer and JvB-moto has to applauded for their effort and craftsmanship shown.
