While modifying a bike, choosing a body style often becomes a dilemma. So, the guys who brought you the MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR “Ballistic Trident” now have a new concept - the “double-style” motorcycle. Winston Yeh from Rough Crafts Customs has now transformed the Yard Built Yamaha XSR700 into a cafe racer and a scrambler. ‘The Corsa Scorcher’ has been given clip-ons and a gloss carbon fibre finish while ‘The Soil Scorpion’ has been equipped with flat bars, off-road tyres and camouflage paint to make it look rough.

As Yen was probated to weld or cut into the XSR700 frame, the transformation from a Yamaha XSR700 to the custom bikes takes about an hour. The carbon fibre panels on the fuel tank and tail are mounted on an aluminium fuel tank underneath. And since it is a Yamaha, the upside-down forks and the axle is from an R1.

The wheels are made out of carbon fibre for the Corsa Scorcher while the Scrambler twin gets forged alloys units. Since the suspension needs to cope with both street and dirt, Yen chose to go with the fully adjustable remote control digital suspension from Shark Factory’s X2E, which can also be adjusted on the fly.

In the brakes department, the Corsa Scorcher features Beringer units with a velocity stake on its intake but the Soil Scorpion has to use a waterproof filter from Sprint, as it will often find itself getting dirty.

Since both the bikes are built to take on different sceneries, the exhaust systems on both are different. The cafe racer uses aftermarket titanium Akrapovic exhausts for the R1 while the scrambler gets an Akrapovic titanium XSR700 high pipe system.

Other parts custom-made by Rough Crafts on the bike include grips, Fin-style risers, grill-type headlight, fuel cap, velocity intake stacks. The paint is done by Air Runner Custom Paint.

These bikes are a part of the Yard Built lineup for Yamaha Europe which has a long list of other custom-built motorcycles. Prices for this 'double-style' bike will not be divulged, but if you are interested, you are welcome to put up an enquiry.
