BMW Motorrad’s pursuit to revolutionise urban mobility doesn’t seem to end. After showcasing the DC vision concept, and more recently the CE 04, the Bavarian manufacturer has introduced its new electric concept-- the CE 02. Unlike the other two, this electric two-wheeler is targeted at the youth. In fact, its unveiling on TikTok is a testimony how serious BMW is about seeing college kids roll around the town on its new product.
The BMW CE 02, just like the CE-04, follows a very industrial design. So, instead of having body panels to hide the internals, BMW chose to proudly flaunt it, and we must admit, the bikemaker has done it tastefully. For starters, the mid-mounted motor has been finished in brushed aluminum, and so is the swingarm and the triple clamp. Even the fat cable running from the battery module to the digital instrument console blends perfectly with the rest of the design.
The BMW Motorrad CE 02 looks like the ideal urban commuting tool. Thanks to the tall handlebar, a low 730mm seat and beefy 15-inch tyres, the e-scooter can be fun zipping around through the traffic during rush hours. And don’t let its puny proportions fool you. The 11kW motor is powerful enough to propel this e-scooter to a top speed of 90kmph. While BMW Motorrad hasn’t disclosed many technical details, the claimed range on this one is 90km.
BMW Motorrad has been known to pull off wild concepts and off late, the production models don’t stray far from the concept’s design. From the BMW F 900 XR and R 18, to the new CE 04, we have seen what the Bavarian manufacturer can pull off. Hopefully, wIth the BMW CE 02, things won’t be any different. That said, our market is unlikely to get this product anytime soon, but even if we do, it won’t be light on our pockets.
