The Zeths ZT1000 engine makes more power than the Indian Scout’s mill

Chinese two-wheeler brand Zeths has unveiled its new 1000cc engine christened the ZT1000. The new V-twin motor takes inspiration from the Indian Scout’s 1000cc mill and will be used in Zeths’ upcoming models.

While the ZT1000 imitates quite a few areas of the Indian Scout engine, it also has a few original cues. The cylinders, heads, cases and covers are all newly designed while the overall layout including the 60-degree V angle, DOHC heads and the positions of the engine mounts are similar to that of the Scout.

Moreover, the 73.6mm stroke and 93mm bore is also the same as the Indian Scout and so is the 11:1 compression ratio. With that being said, the ZT1000 engine makes 82PS at 8000rpm and 90Nm at 5500rpm which is 3PS and 1.2Nm more than the American motor.

The ZT1000 will power a bobber, chopper and an FTR-style model for Zeths’ lineup. Apart from that, Zeths is also working on a 1200cc motor which will be used for a bagger-like model inspired by the likes of the Indian Challenger and the Harley Davidson Road Glide in the design department.

While Chinese manufacturers are gaining popularity in the international market, the chances of Zeths entering the Indian territory are bleak.
