In the latest edition of ZigWheels’ performance comparison, we have lined up the Honda Elevate and MG Hector. One is powered by a naturally aspirated petrol engine, while the other gets a turbocharged petrol engine. Which one crosses the finish line first in the 0-100kmph and in-gear acceleration runs?
That’s what we are going to find out. Let’s go!

Both the SUVs here get a 1.5-litre engine, but the Hector's turbocharged unit is both torquier and more powerful. That said, the MG is also larger and heavier than the Honda SUV. Does that affect its performance on the road?
We line up the automatic versions of both SUVs to find out.

Thanks to its more powerful petrol engine, the MG Hector is quicker than the Honda Elevate by around 1.2 seconds in our outright 0-100 kmph acceleration run. It’s also torquier due to the presence of a turbo and all that 250 Nm comes right from 1600 rpm. As a result, the Hector is also the quicker car here in the 20-80 kmph roll-on acceleration run.
