2013 BMW X1

BMW kick started the compact luxury SUV segment in India with the launch of the X1 in December 2010. A recipe that has worked rather well in our market where SUV sales are at an all time high.

To take advantage of the situation BMW has launched a refreshed X1. The face-lifted BMW X1 features interior cosmetic tweaks that include dual-tone interiors, more silver and chrome accents inside the cabin and an electroplated trim surrounding for the gearshift lever and centre console cup holders.

On the outside, the facelift has given the new X1 new alloy wheels, new exterior colour options, a new front bumper with a restyled air diffuser, a new grille, new headlights with LED accent lights, ORVMs with integrated indicators, a new rear bumper along with a new rear air diffuser.

BMW has also made the suspension of the refreshed X1 softer for Indian road conditions and the steering has been made lighter for urban driving conditions.

The 2.0 litre diesel engine now develops 186PS of power and 380Nm of torque. The engine is mated to BMW’s eight-speed Steptronic automatic torque converter gearbox which also allows for manual gear changes.

BMW is the leader of the luxury car market in India and by pricing the new X1 between Rs 27.90 lakh and Rs 32.50 lakh (ex-showroom All-India) the compact luxury SUV is still more affordable than its direct rival, the Audi Q3.

With the face-lift BMW has give the X1 a fresh dose of styling to make the successful SUV even more appealing.
