Ducati recently launched its 200PS monster, the Streetfighter V4, in India starting at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Sure it’s packed with all the bells and whistles (read all about them here) but it can be a handful for many. So, here are a few alternatives that you can consider:
Kawasaki Z H2 - Rs 21.90 lakh
The Kawasaki Z H2 is the only natural rival to the Bologna Bullet here. It was the most powerful naked motorcycle in our country, but now, the Streetfighter V4 holds that title. At Rs 21.90 lakh, it’s pricier than the Ducati by a good Rs 2 lakh. It does make up for the money, though, with a segment-first supercharger that’s guaranteed to make you feel special at all times. Besides, it also gets an extensive electronics package, a quickshifter and smartphone connectivity, all accessible through its TFT dash. Check out our story for more deets.
Ducati Panigale V2 - Rs 17.50 lakh
Younger sibling of the Streefighter’s faired counterpart, the Panigale V4, the Panigale V2 retails for Rs 17.50 lakh. While it's nowhere near as powerful as the Streetfighter, it is cheaper by a whole Rs 2.50 lakh. For the money, it packs premium components, derived from the bigger Pani, and even looks quite similar to it. You can read more about the baby Panigale here.
BMW S 1000 RR - Rs 19.50 lakh
Next up, we have Bavaria’s flagship superbike, the BMW S 1000 RR. The flagship bike is powered by an inline four-cylinder motor putting out 210PS, making it the only bike here that’s more powerful than the V4. Also part of the package is a 6.5-inch TFT shod with plenty of tech. Oh, and did we mention all this saves you Rs 50,000 over the V4? Sounds too good to be true to us!
BMW S 1000 XR - Rs 21.30 lakh
Don’t like the S 1000 RR? Well, here is its ADV counterpart: the S 1000 XR. At Rs 21.30 lakh, you do pay Rs 1.30 lakh more than the Streetfighter, but in turn, you get a more versatile offering. The XR is powered by essentially the same motor as the RR but in a detuned state to make 165PS. BMW has also thrown in electronics aids, a smart key, dynamic suspension, immobiliser, LED lights, and a TFT display. If versatility is high in your checklist, we suggest you check out all its details in our story.
Triumph Rocket 3 - Rs 19.35 lakh
Moving on from the Germans, we come to the British offering, the Triumph Rocket 3. Essentially a power cruiser, it is shod with all the modern tidbits, including a TFT display, LED lights, Brembo Stylema brakes, Showa suspension, and extensive electronics. The highlight of the Rocket, though, is its 2,500cc motor churning out 167PS and a crazy 221Nm! The best part: all this comes at Rs 65,000 less than the Streetfighter V4.
If you’re impressed by the Rocket 3, you could also check out BMW’s R18 cruiser, a more relaxed and easy-going alternative to the Triumph, priced at Rs 19.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Featuring a classic head-to-toe styling, a chunky fishtail exhaust, and the world’s largest boxer engine, it is surely a one-of-a-kind offering.
