Hyundai Motor India recently revealed the Creta Electric ahead of its launch at the forthcoming Auto Expo 2025. While all the powertrain details except range and charging figures are yet to be disclosed, the electric compact SUV will be available in 4 variants and 10 colours. That said, the upcoming Creta Electric takes on several electric SUVs, including the Tata Curvv EV – a coupe crossover. We are going to compare both these electric SUVs to find which one seems a compelling option going by their on-paper specifications.
It is worth mentioning that the Creta Electric is an electric equivalent of the on-sale Creta and will be the second electric vehicle (EV) from the South Korean automaker after the locally assembled Ioniq 5.

We expect the price of the upcoming Creta EV to start at Rs 17 lakh and go up Rs 22.15 lakh (ex-showroom). In comparison, the Curvv EV is priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh. With the prices of the Creta Electric to be announced soon, it would be interesting to see which electric SUV undercuts its rival.
Although Hyundai has not released dimensions, it is likely that the Creta Electric will retain more or less the same measurements as the on-sale Creta. For instance, the currently available Creta measures 4,330 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. On the other hand, the Curvv EV is 4,310 mm long, 1,810 mm wide, and 1,637 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm.

While the Creta Electric will benefit from more or less the same features as the on-sale Creta, we have shortlisted some of them. It will come with dual 10.25-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, a powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. In contrast, the Curvv features a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 9-speaker JBL sound system but comes with a 6-way powered driver’s seat.
Expect the Creta Electric to boast a host of features, such as a 2-step reclining rear seat, ambient lighting, and dual-zone AC to name a few. In fact, it may come equipped with a handful of additional features over the Creta. For example, it will support a digital key function, unlocking the car using a smartphone or a smartwatch as well as Vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology that can charge or power various electronic appliances and gadgets. On the other hand, some stand-out features in the Curvv EV include a powered tailgate with gesture recognition, front boot (frunk), 2-step reclining rear seats, acoustic vehicle alert system, Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), powered co-driver seat, and ambient lighting.
The safety equipment list of both the electric compact SUV is expected to remain the same with notable features including 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS.

Going by the maximum range offered when paired with the largest battery pack available, the coupe crossover from Tata delivers a considerably longer range of 29 km and 40 km over the Creta Electric. To be specific, the Curvv EV delivers a longer range of 502 km than the Creta Electric’s 473 km. On the other hand, the Curvv EV also has a greater range of 430 km with its small battery pack compared to the 390 km range of the Creta Electric.
Not only that, charging speed is another area where the Curvv EV has a competitive edge over the Creta Electric. Both the 70 kWh and 60 kWh DC fast chargers allow the 55 kWh and 45 kWh battery packs to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in a claimed 40 minutes. Whereas, the Creta Electric takes 58 minutes to recharge. However, when using an 11kW AC Type-2 charger, the Hyundai’s electric SUV can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in 4 hours (for a 51.4 kWh battery pack). In comparison, the Curvv EV supports up to 7.2 kWh AC charging. Therefore, the charging times are slower than the Creta Electric: 6.5 hours to charge the 45 kWh unit and 7.9 hours to charge the 55 kWh battery.
When it comes to acceleration, the Creta EV is the fastest of the two. It can go from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds, while the Curvv EV takes 8.6 seconds and 9 seconds with the 55 kWh and 45 kWh battery packs, respectively. Meanwhile, both electric vehicles boast Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, enabling users to supply electricity for their appliances and gadgets.
It is to be noted that the power output figures of the Creta EV’s electric motor have not been revealed yet. For context, the Curvv EV makes 167 PS and 215 Nm (55 kWh) and 150 PS and 215 Nm (45 kWh).
In conclusion, the Curvv EV has a competitive advantage in terms of range and faster DC charging. It also offers a handful of stand-out features, such as the V2V charging and gesture control for boot opening. On the other hand, the Creta EV delivers a slightly lower range and slower DC charging speed. However, it makes that up with quicker AC charging and a new feature, such as a digital key. Not to mention the Creta EV is also quicker than the Curvv EV in acceleration, on paper. Having said that, the pricing could be a deal breaker when it comes to these electric vehicles.
The on-sale Creta has been the most sought-after compact SUV in its segment for a while, where it rivals the combustion-powered Tata Curvv. Will Hyundai be able to carry forward the success of its Creta with the upcoming Creta Electric? Upon launch, it will compete against the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 (previously BE 6e), and MG ZS EV as well as the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.
