Royal Enfield Scram 440 VS Triumph Scrambler 400X: Image Comparison

Royal Enfield recently launched the Scram 440 in India. Due to its engine capacity the Mavrick 440 is one of the closest rivals to the Scram 440. Lets have a closer look at how these 440cc motorcycles compete against each other.
In terms of design the Royal Enfield Scram 440 appears to be a rugged motorcycle with a slick design and soothing paint schemes. It gets a well sculpted tank along with a narrow tail section. The long travel suspension along with the bigger front wheel gives it a tall stance
The Hero Mavrick gets a perfect blend of retro modern design language. It looks bold with its simple yet striking design. It also gets some well-sculpted metal panels to enhance its bold appearance.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 gets a 443cc single cylinder, air and oil-cooled motor that makes 25.4PS and 35Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox which would help the Scram 440 use all of its power efficiently.
The Hero Mavrick 440 gets a 440cc single-cylinder, air and oil-cooled engine that puts out 27.36PS and 36Nm. This engine offers brilliant low-end torque and a smooth riding experience. The Mavrick 440 makes slightly more power than the Scram 440 which could make it faster in real world experience.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 gets a saddle height of 795mm. It gets a 41mm telescopic fork with 190mm of travel and a rear monoshock with 180mm of travel. Braking duties are taken care of by the 300mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper and a 240mm rear disc with a single piston caliper. The Scram 440 offers a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel setup with both spoke and alloy wheels as an option. The Scram 440 has a kerb weight of 196kg.
The Hero Mavrick 440 gets a seat height of 803mm. It gets a 43mm telescopic fork and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability. For braking duties, it gets a 320mm front and 240mm rear disc brake setup. The Mavrick 440 gets 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. While the kerb weight is 191kg, making it slightly lighter than the Scram 440.
The Scram 440 gets a LED headlight along with a semi-digital instrument cluster. It gets an analogue speedometer and a digital display with all the crucial info like Gear position indicator, service reminder, trip info, service reminder, time and side stand warning. Customers can also opt for the optional tripper navigation setup which gets a TFT display and enables turn-by-turn navigation along with SMS/call alerts.
The Mavrick 440 gets a fully digital instrument cluster with all the crucial information like speed, fuel, rpm, temperature, trip info, service reminder, side stand warning and time. It also gets smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth which allows turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts. The Mavrick 440 gets all LED lights.
Both of these motorcycles get dual channel ABS and the Scram 440 also gets switchable ABS.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 is priced at Rs 2,08,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) whereas the Mavrick 440 costs Rs 1,99,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). The price difference is marginal but the motorcycles are poles apart. The Scram 440 is more of an all rounder here. It can go touring, off-roading and can be used daily. The Mavrick 440 is more of a retro-roadster and an excellent daily commuter. That said, it too can do almost anything you ask it to.
Both Royal Enfield and Hero have one of the highest sales figures and also have an extensive service network throughout the country. This makes both of these motorcycles quite easy to own.
If you want a bold looking all rounder then the Scram 440 will be a great choice for the price. But if you want a slick and slightly compact highway-tourer and/or commuter then the Mavrick will make a lot more sense.
