The Skoda Kylaq, set to be fully launched on December 4, will sit in a segment full of rivals, many of which we’ve already compared it to. While this may not be the most talked-about rivalry, the Nissan Magnite does present competition to the Kylaq, as they belong to the same segment with some price overlap. Hence, in this article, we’ve put the two sub-compact SUVs head-to-head to see how they compare, at least on paper. Let’s find out below.
The Skoda Kylaq will be offered in four broad variants while the Nissan Magnite is currently on sale in a total of six broad trims. The Kylaq’s full pricing will be revealed at its launch on December 4.

It is worth noting that the prices for both cars listed in the table are introductory and may change later. While full prices for the Kylaq aren’t out yet, we expect it to top out around the Rs 15 lakh mark, which will make it significantly more expensive than the Magnite. We’ll see what it brings to the table for that next.

The Skoda Kylaq outshines its Nissan rival in every aspect when you pull out the measuring tape. It is marginally longer but significantly wider and taller than the Magnite, with a longer wheelbase and greater boot space. However, there’s a catch with the Kylaq’s boot space figures, as they have been measured without a parcel tray. Even so, they remain more impressive.

Based on what’s currently confirmed, the Kylaq stays ahead with its cornering fog lamps, larger alloy wheels, bigger displays, a sunroof, wireless phone charger, ventilated and powered seats and paddle shifters. In response, the Magnite counters with only a 360-degree camera over the Kylaq.
The Kylaq has garnered enough buzz about its single engine option on offer, while many of its rivals bring multiple choices like the Magnite offering a mix of a NA petrol and a turbo petrol engine. Let’s see how the Kylaq compares with what it has.

The Skoda Kylaq, with its 1-litre turbo petrol engine, delivers a better output than the Magnite. For transmission, it offers a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, compared to the 5-speed manual and CVT options available in the Magnite. There’s also a budget-friendly NA petrol engine with the Magnite, available with a 5-speed MT or AMT. Does the Kylaq even warrant the need for a lower-powered engine? We’ll keep that for you to think about.
Overall, the Skoda Kylaq is here to make a strong case for itself in the highly competitive sub-compact SUV market in India. We’ve also previously compared it with other direct competitors like the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Brezza.
While we think there’s a clear winner in this comparison, the Nissan Magnite, with its facelift, brings some appealing cosmetic updates and impressive safety. If you’re a Nissan fan, or just one a budget sub-4m SUV, then the Magnite is sure to catch your eye.
