Tata Motors has pulled the wraps off the first sub-4m all-electric SUV in India, the Nexon EV. It gets a different cosmetic approach to make it stand out from the ICE-powered Nexon. These cosmetic changes are also expected to trickle down to the standard Nexon in the form a facelift in the near future. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at all the differences between the SUVs:
Well, as you can see, the Nexon has traded its rounded and amiable face for a sharp and aggressive one. The front end of the Nexon EV has been completely redesigned with a slimmer grille and headlamps. The lower air dam gets a revised design with some blue elements hinting at its green intentions.
Overall, we dig the Nexon EV’s new attire. The standard Nexon is a butch-looking compact SUV and the Nexon EV has taken the game up a notch. The Nexon EV has retained all the design elements we adore while adding a different character.
The side profile remains more or less the same with the main difference being the Electric Blue accents and the EV badging. The same blue accents are generously used all over the Nexon EV replacing the silver on the standard Nexon. Don’t miss out the new dual-tone alloy wheel design.
The main difference to the rear end is the new bumper design in the Nexon EV. It also gets a silver insert in the lowermost part. Other noticeable bits include the new ‘Nexon’ and ‘EV’ badging as well as the missing exhaust.
Although the layout and design remain the same, the Nexon EV gets a plush cabin with beige interiors and blue-gloss black accents. The updated infotainment system, new flat-bottom steering, and an all-new semi-digital infotainment system add to the premium experience.
A closer look reveals the new rotary knob in the Nexon EV for the drive modes: R, N, D and S. The same knob acts as a selector for drive modes in the ICE-powered Nexon.
The texture of the Nexon EV dashboard is also different from the standard Nexon.
The beige leather seats uplift the cabin ambience in the Nexon EV in contrast to the grey and black scheme in the standard Nexon.
Here you can see the black inserts on the new flat-bottom steering as well as the semi-digital cluster in the Nexon EV
The Nexon EV features the Ziptron powertrain that uses an electric motor capable of producing 129PS of power and 245Nm of torque. The upcoming Auto Expo might witness the launch of the Nexon EV with the variant-wise pricing. Speaking of variants, the Nexon EV is available in three variants: XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX. We expect it to priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
In the bigger picture, it is safe to say the Nexon EV looks better than the standard Nexon with the new face and all the subtle touches. Now the wait begins for the facelifted Nexon.
