Ahead of the Punch’s unveiling on October 4, we have got our hands on the upcoming micro SUV’s dimensions. The Punch is 3840mm long, 1800mm wide, and 1635mm tall. It sits on a 2450mm wheelbase. We weigh up these numbers against the Punch’s closest rivals, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 Nxt.

As evident from the table above, the Tata Punch is the largest car in this comparison. It also has the longest wheelbase, which should translate into a roomy cabin. The Ignis is the smallest model here, however, its wheelbase is larger than that of the KUV100. In terms of ground clearance, the Punch, once again, betters the other two.
The Tata Punch is based on the carmaker’s ALFA platform. Like its rivals, it will be a petrol-only offering with Tata’s familiar 86PS 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Punch can be had either with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Here’s how the specifications compare against its rivals:

The Punch’s specifications are on par with the competition. However, it’s down on a cylinder to the Ignis, which might be an issue in terms of refinement and smoothness. That said, it’s still at par with the Mahindra KUV100, which utilises a three-cylinder motor.
Besides, the Punch could also be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and down the road, could also get an all-electric powertrain.
More details of the Tata Punch will come to light on October 4, ahead of its launch later this festive season. Its ex-showroom prices are expected to start around Rs 5.5 lakh.
