The Tork Kratos is finally here and it aims to dethrone the Revolt RV400. Can it?

The electric motorcycle segment is quite niche in India. And Pune-based Tork Motors plans to take it on with its new e-bike, the Kratos. But to do so, the Tork Kratos needs to reign supreme over the existing segment leader (and so far the only bike in the segment), the Revolt RV400. Curious to know how these two fare against each other? Well, here’s a spec comparo that’ll help you paint a clearer picture.

The Tork Kratos and Revolt RV400 are very closely matched in terms of on-paper performance. But the Kratos does come out on top with its bigger battery, more power, and a 15kmph higher top speed.

The differences between the two are small, though, and the RV400 is no slouch. In fact, it offers a massive 170Nm at the wheel and a removable battery, both of which will certainly make life easier in the real world. Moreover, even with a smaller battery, the maximum claimed range for the Revolt is 30km more than the Kratos’ maximum range. Plot twist, much?

It’s neck-and-neck here too. Both bikes boast similar underpinnings comprising disc brakes at both ends, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a rear monoshock. However, the Revolt RV400 offers a USD fork up front, which is more modern than the Kratos’ conventional telescopic unit.

The USD won’t make a lot of difference in the real world, though, considering both are commuter bikes and most riders will probably never take them to the racetrack or twisties. So, it’s down to personal preference here.

Both bikes come with their own set of pros here. On the one hand, the Tork Kratos offers a 29mm lower seat height and a 14mm smaller wheelbase than the RV400. The latter will make it more suitable for all types of riders while the former will make it pretty agile in direction changes.

On the other hand, the Revolt RV400 offers 50mm more ground clearance than the Kratos while tipping the scales at a monumental 32kg less.

We’d pick the Revolt RV400 here, mostly because of the huge weight advantage it has over the Kratos.

As you can see from the table, the Tork Kratos is the more feature-packed and up-to-date offering between the two. This is mainly because Revolt hasn’t updated the RV400 in a while now, due to which it feels a little dated compared to its recent rivals. However, it does get the basics right and is still sufficiently feature-rich.

Price & Verdict

Tork Kratos

Revolt RV400

Rs 1,32,499

Rs 1,11,999

(all prices ex-showroom Pune, FAME-II included)

The Tork Kratos retails in Pune for Rs 1.32 lakh (FAME-II included), which is Rs 20,000 more than the Revolt RV400’s price in Pune. And this is a big number for a price-sensitive market like ours.

So considering this, we feel the Revolt RV400 is still the more value-for-money option for the masses. The Tork Kratos does come out as the more feature-packed, future-proof, and powerful offering here but the differences aren’t as game-changing as the extra moolah.
