Earlier last week, Mahindra-owned Classic Legends resurrected the Yezdi Motorcycles brand in India. The debut witnessed three models: Roadster, Adventure and Scrambler. While the Scrambler and the Adventure have already stacked up against their foes, it’s now time for the Roadster to fare against its arch-nemesis, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.

The Yezdi Roadster has a clear advantage here, both in terms of power and torque. It also gets an extra cog, which means more room for top-end performance and slightly efficient cruising. Not to mention, it also benefits from a more advanced cooling system (liquid-cooling) and weighs 7kg less too. That’s a lot of aspects where the Yezdi Roadster has an upper hand on paper.

On the underpinnings front, both the bikes bag in pretty much the same score. However, the Yezdi gets a slightly larger front disc and a smaller front alloy. The latter should aid in better handling and directional changes. On the other hand, the Meteor 350 gets a wider rear tyre which should aid in better cornering confidence.

Since the Yezdi Roadster has a notably larger wheelbase than the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, it can be a bit cumbersome while manoeuvring in bumper to bumper traffic. The Meteor 350, on the other hand, gets a 2.5-litre larger fuel tank which should theoretically reduce the number of fuel stops. And its lower seat-height should offer more convenience for shorter riders compared to the Roadster.

On the feature front, the Meteor 350 offers Bluetooth connectivity along with turn-by-turn navigation. Whereas the Yezdi Roadster misses out on it. All the chrome coloured Yezdi Roadster variants get a transparent windscreen as well. Not to mention the backrest, you also get a backrest for added comfort.

The Yezdi Roadster not only costs less but also packs more power than the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. And if you can oversee the lack of Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, then the Yezdi Roadster makes for a sensible choice on paper. However, whether the same can be said in the real world is something we’ll answer after a thorough comparison between the two.
