The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 was spotted testing in almost production-ready form. Interestingly, this time two test mules were spotted together.
This upcoming bike was already spotted twice on Indian roads last month, the first spy shots revealed lots of interesting information about this bike, while the second set of spy shots revealed a range of optional accessories for the Shotgun 650.
These particular test mules provided a clear look at the rear design of the motorcycle comprising a round tail lamp, round turn indicators and split seats. While the SG650 concept showcased at EICMA last year was a bobber, the test mules sport twin seats for better practicality. That said, expect the upcoming Shotgun 650 to come in a Bobber variant as well.
The test mules also sport an upside down fork, similar to what was spied on the Super Meteor 650. At the rear, the Shotgun 650 sports twin shock absorbers. It features disc brakes at both ends paired with ByBre calipers, with the safety net of dual-channel ABS. Both the test mules were running on alloy wheels and road-biased tyres.
You can also see the asymmetrical instrument cluster in the spy shots. The main pod looks to be a semi-digital unit, similar to the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, and the smaller pod could be the Tripper Navigation module.
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will share the same 648cc, parallel-twin, air-oil-cooled mill that powers the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. It is expected to make the same output figures as the 650 twins – 47.6PS and 52Nm – linked to a 6-speed transmission with slip-and-assist clutch.
The Shotgun 650 is likely to go on sale in early 2023 and is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 3.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). While it won’t have any natural rivals in India, it will go up against the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and Keeway K-Light 250V in this price range.
