2024 Tata Nexon Spotted With A DCT And New 1.2-litre T-GDI Turbo-petrol Engine

There is nothing new about the fact that Tata Motors is working on a heavily revised Nexon, slated to hit showroom floors in 2024. The updated SUV will get heavily revised exterior and interior with plenty of new features. But the latest spy shots that have surfaced online gives out something even more substantial: a DCT gearbox. 

Yes, you read that right. The 2024 Tata Nexon has been spotted with a much more sophisticated DCT. How you may ask? The subcompact SUV was snapped with a Land Rover style gear lever with a Park mode. This box coming in also seals the fact that this particular test mile seems to be powered by Tata’s new 125PS T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. 

The Indian marque already gave hints earlier that the DCT would be offered with Tata’s new turbo-petrol engine. Plonking this ‘box in the Nexon is great news as the petrol engine currently comes with an AMT that’s not as smooth shifting as a DCT. That said, it remains to be seen if the 110PS 1.5-litre diesel engine, which also features an AMT option, gets a more sophisticated automatic transmission. It will also be offered with electric powertrains as well. 

The spy shots also gives a look of the cabin, which gets a Curvv-inspired dashboard layout. These pictures also give us a look at its digital driver’s display, which seems to be larger and covers the full width, unlike the current 7-inch display seen in the Harrier and Safari. We suspect its introduction to happen sometime in 2024 and it should command a premium over the current model priced from Rs 7.8 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Nexon will continue rivalling the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Nissan Magnite.
