BMW’s rock and rolla cruiser, the R 18, is also set to become sportier and the Bavarian brand has a new name for it: Roctane. Okay, it might sound a bit too weird and punk but trust me, if BMW manages to pull off a bike that manages to look quite as stunning as the Concept R 18 /2, then it has got a winner on its hands.
The trademark has been filed in its home country and given the company’s usage of the letter ‘R’ for its boxer twin bikes, the sporty cruiser angle fits the Roctane name best. And to that degree, so does the Concept R 18 /2 live up to the tag of a sporty cruiser. After all, it looks fast even when at standstill, gets a small flyscreen to literally divert wind to your hair, and a more committed riding posture than the standard R 18’s laidback one.
Also, BMW has commissioned loads of customs on the R 18, so further fine tuning of the Roctane is bound to happen. We should get an idea regarding this bike closer to the end of the year, perhaps during EICMA 2022, which is when the grandest bikemakers take to the Milan show floors to showcase their new creations for the forthcoming model year.
