The retro-style roadster has been spotted testing in India once again

The BSA Gold Star has been spotted testing in India once again and the bike does look really nice, gleaming under the sun in fact. It looks every bit a roadster from an earlier era with its teardrop-shaped fuel tank, flat seat and all the chrome bits. What is not nice to see though is the test rider’s lack of proper riding gear, for he is wearing ankle-length jeans and sport shoes, instead of riding pants and boots.

Let’s focus on the bike now! These spy shots have given us a proper view of the bike’s rear end for the first time. You have a rectangular rear lamp, one that could be an LED unit. Behind it are indicators that are splayed in a fashion somewhat similar to what we’ve seen on the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. As for its features, you can check out its instrument console in our exclusive story.

At the bike’s heart will be a 652cc, single-cylinder engine with 45.6PS and 55Nm on tap. While the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 stands unchallenged in the 650cc roadster segment, what the Gold Star would bring is a unique experience, given that it has only one, big lump of a cylinder. That would also make the Gold Star the largest capacity single-cylinder bike in India.

The Gold Star is suspended on a telescopic fork and five-step pre-load-adjustable shocks. Braking duties are taken care of by a 320mm disc at the front and 255mm one at the rear. Once here, which could be with a price tag of around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom), the Gold Star will go up against the Kawasaki Z650RS and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
