The Mahindra Scorpio N-based pickup truck, which broke cover as the Global Pik Up concept in South Africa earlier this year, has been spotted testing on our shores for the first time. The spy video which surfaced online gives us a glimpse of the model’s rear end.
As seen in the test mule, Mahindra has toned down the aggressive design touches we saw in the concept. It boasts a flat rear profile, featuring a central handle on the tailgate. Notably, the prominent Mahindra logo is absent, and this being a test mule, gets basic tail lamps which we suspect to change in the production-spec model.
It also gets a more toned down rear bumper and skid plate unlike the chunky ones in the initial concept. Additionally, the test mule boasts the same alloys found on the Scorpio N. Lastly, all the fancy touches such as the roof rack, LED light bar and the funky side steps have been given the boot.
To see how this model looks like as a concept, head to our in-depth image gallery of the Mahindra Scorpio N-based pickup truck.
The Mahindra Global Pikup will get an enhanced version of the Scorpio N's 175PS 2.2-litre diesel engine. It will offer both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the pickup truck is equipped with a 4-wheel-drive system that includes various drive modes, enhancing its adaptability to different driving conditions.
An India launch is under consideration. If it does comes to India, it will lock horns with the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux. Expect its prices to start around the Rs 25 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
