The next-generation Hyundai Verna has been spotted in India once again ahead of its launch in 2023 and the biggest eye-opener brought about by this particular spy shot you see above is the presence of a radar on the front bumper, meaning the Verna is poised to get ADAS features much like the Honda City Hybrid.
The Tucson is the first Hyundai to get ADAS features in India and the upcoming compact sedan should follow in its footsteps by offering adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot detection. These features, along with a rigid and stable chassis, multiple airbags and electronic stability control, should make the Verna a safe offering.
This is also the first time we are getting to see the Verna’s fascia and though it is draped in camouflage, we can say there’s a bit of influence from the Elantra here. The grille is large and spreads across the width of the front end, while the headlamps are now placed lower.
The upcoming sedan could also get plentiful new features such as a digital display, a Bose sound system and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other bits like ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push button start and a sunroof should be carried forward.
We don’t expect the powertrain options to be changed as well. So, the Verna should carry forward the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, as well as the 120PS 1-litre turbo-petrol unit. The turbo-petrol could also get the 6-speed iMT that’s offered in plenty of Hyundai and Kia cars. Take a look at the detailed specifications:

The new Verna with all these upgrades is expected to command a premium over the outgoing car, priced from Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, VW Virtus, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
