Maruti is preparing a midlife update for its people mover, the Ertiga, and the test mule has been spotted for the first time. If you were waiting for one, we suggest keeping your expectations low as updates are extremely minimal.
The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gets a… redesigned mesh grille and a black strip connecting the tail lamps. That’s about it. The bumpers, headlamps, and tail lamps are carried forward from the existing model. An untrained eye won’t be able to tell the difference between both the models in a single go.
The interior is yet to be seen, but considering the bare minimum updates outside, we wouldn’t be surprised if it too remains similar to the current MPV. That said, we do hope new colour and upholstery options as well as a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system are on the offing to give the cabin a fresh lease of life.

Maruti could also throw in new features like a wireless phone charger. Bits like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a coloured multi-info display, keyless entry with push button start, and cruise control should be retained. Safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
The 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and optional 4-speed automatic, is expected to remain unchanged. It comes with a mild hybrid system for providing torque assist for improved fuel economy. An optional CNG variant is also available right from the factory.
The facelifted Maruti Ertiga will be part of Maruti's plans to launch eight models in 2022. It’s likely to command a slight premium over the current model that is priced from Rs 7.97 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with the Renault Kwid, Mahindra Marazzo, and upcoming Kia Carens.
