A new set of spy shots have confirmed that the MG Hector Plus will get the same cosmetic changes that will be seen on the standard SUV. The Hector Plus is essentially the six/seven-seater variant of the standard Hector. It’s likely to debut in India alongside the standard Hector, which is expected to break cover on December 20.
Leaked image of facelifted Hector for reference
The Hector Plus will boast the same large grille with chrome diamond-shaped inserts found in the standard model. Its headlamps have been upgraded to dual-beam units, while the DRLs are now sleeker and similar to the standard SUV that has been leaked fully ahead of its debut. Like the standard SUV, no changes are expected in profile, while the rear end features reprofiled tail lamps and bumpers.
Overall, the Hector Plus will look very similar to the standard SUV, which wasn’t the case before as the seven-seater SUV had bespoke grille and bumpers. That said, we do expect minor changes to be made to the final product for that bit of differentiation.
Inside, the Hector Plus will boast the same dashboard design as the updated Hector with a large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage. The variant spotted had captain seats, and its interior was finished in brown, giving us a hint that the updated SUV will have a different colour scheme, like before.
And in terms of features, the facelifted SUV should boast more connected features and mainly, addition of ADAS. Other kit such as ventilated front seats, powered tailgate, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, an Infinity sound system will be carried forward. In terms of safety kit, the SUV will get six airbags, electronic stability control and a 360-degree camera.

No changes are expected to be made underneath the hood. Currently, the SUV gets the choice of either a 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (MT gets mild-hybrid tech) and 170PS 2-litre diesel engine. A six-speed manual is standard, while the turbo-petrol engine can be specced with either a DCT or a CVT.
The facelifted Hector Plus is expected to command a few extra bucks over the current model that is priced from Rs 14.94 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar.
