A Honda Amaze petrol has been spotted emission testing, raising speculation that it could be the CNG variant on test. The carmaker could be contemplating launching the CNG model as an alternative to the Aura CNG and the upcoming Tigor CNG and Dzire CNG.
The Amaze CNG will be powered by the familiar 90PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, albeit in a detuned state in pure CNG mode. We reckon it could be offered only with a 5-speed manual to keep costs in check. The CVT is likely to be limited to the standard petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Honda is likely to offer the Amaze CNG in the mid-spec variants only; the spied test mule is based on the mid-spec S trim. That said, it’s still too early to talk about variants as it’s speculation.

Recently, Honda gave the Amaze a minor nip and tuck to keep things fresh. The sedan gets features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, multi-info display, steering-mounted audio controls, and push-button start.
Securing passenger safety is dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a rear parking camera.
Honda is yet to give a definitive timeline of the Amaze CNG, so stay tuned for further updates. If launched, the Amaze CNG will command a premium over the petrol variants, priced from Rs 6.32 lakh (ex-showroom).
