This concept SUV could provide clues on the carmaker’s upcoming Creta-rivalling offering in India

In August this year, Honda confirmed that it was working on a new Creta rival for India. While details are still scarce, the carmaker’s Indonesian division may have some clues for us as they’ve teased a new compact SUV concept that will break cover there on November 11.

The teaser only gives us a glimpse of the rear quarter, and it seems to have a coupe-like profile, thanks to the tapered roofline. Other design elements include connected taillights, a kink around the C-pillar, and what seems like a beefy bonnet. We expect the India-bound SUV to borrow a few styling cues from this concept.

We’re yet to take a look inside, but we think Honda will equip it (as well as the India-focused SUV) with the Honda Sensing range of driver assists. For reference, the new BR-V comes with lane departure notification, auto high beam, adaptive cruise control, Honda’s ORVM-mounted LaneWatch cameras, road departure mitigation assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

Powering the SUV could be the India-spec City’s 121PS/145Nm 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which is paired exclusively with a CVT automatic. We could also have the upcoming City hybrid’s dual-motor i-MMD powertrain, which combines a 98PS 1.5-litre petrol engine and two electric motors.

That said, you might want to take this information with a pinch of salt, considering Honda has not given us any official word on its upcoming India-bund mode. Aside from the Creta, Honda’s new compact SUV should take on the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor.
