  • Hilux interior design similar to the Euro-spec model.
  • Should get smartphone connectivity, powered driver’s seat, and a wireless phone charger.
  • Will be powered by a 204PS 2.8-litre diesel engine, paired with MT and AT.
  • Likely to be priced between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

We can’t wait to get our hands on the Hilux, Toyota’s so-called invincible pickup truck, slated for launch on January 20. And while spy shots and teasers have kept us on our toes, we couldn’t get a glimpse of its interior. Until now, as Toyota has given us a first look of the pickup truck’s interior via its social media handles.

For starters, the Hilux’s all-black cabin will come as a blessing for adventure seekers as all the grime and muck would be easy to wipe off. The design, similar to the Euro-spec model, is not what you would call flashy or extravagant. But all the controls are nice and chunky and seem logically placed. Also, the steering wheel and touchscreen infotainment system are shared with the Fortuner to keep costs in check.

This brings us to the features list, which should include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, coloured multi-info display, cruise control, auto LED headlights, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, and powered driver’s seat.

Passenger safety should be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and hill descent control.

No skimping on the powertrain front the more powerful 204PS 2.8-litre diesel engine is offered in India. Internationally, there is an option of a smaller 150PS 2.4-litre mill as well. A 6-speed manual ‘box is present for those loving stick shifters while the 6-speed torque converter AT should ensure ease of use in the city. Four-wheel drive should be standard and a low range gearbox should help in your off road excursions.

The Hilux is likely to be priced between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go head on against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
