Hot on the heels of the KTM RC 8C’s debut, KTM has been seen testing another middleweight supersport, and going by the current lineup, the bike is likely to be the road-legal avatar of the track-only bike or it could be using a new engine.
The test mule of the Austrian supersport appears to be in the early stages of testing, and if you notice, the footpegs are bolted on a mesh panel. This is for bolting on the pegs in different holes to get the best position before making the final product.
The overall design of the motorcycle is very different from the other KTM models, however, the mono projector design is something that we have been seeing on other KTM test mules, which could be the marque’s design language going forward.
This motorcycle was seen with a TFT console and the alloy wheels from the 890 Duke, and premium hardware like adjustable fork and Brembo brakes, which appears to be from the KTM RC 8C.
So, why a serious middleweight supersport in an era where the segment is undergoing a massive shift? Well, we think, rather than competing with the likes of the Aprilia RS660 and the Yamaha R7, KTM is aiming to take on the niche category of the Ducati Panigale V2 and the MV Agusta F3. So, expect the bike to make around 140PS of maximum power.

But this bike is in early stages of development, so it won’t be before 2025 that supersport goes on sale. And by then, the Yamaha YZF-R9 could make its debut too. What about its India debut? Well, KTM has strayed away from bringing its bigger bikes here, and hopefully, in the next three years, this changes.
