UPDATE: Maruti Suzuki has launched the Invicto MPV from Rs 24.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • Design changes include Grand Vitara-like grille and dual-tone alloy wheels.

  • Bookings are open for an amount of 25,000.

  • Will get a 2-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine with an eCVT gearbox.

  • Could get features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, six airbags and ADAS.

  • Expected to be priced from Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Invicto, the Indian carmaker’s latest offering as part of its partnership with Toyota, has been spotted at a dealership ahead of its launch next month. The Innova Hycross-based MPV has started to reach dealerships and will be Maruti’s flagship model in the country.

These images give us a crystal-clear look at the design changes. Maruti Invicto gets a front grille similar to the one in the Grand Vitara with a thick chrome bar connecting the LED headlamps; and as seen in the spied image, it gets dual-tone alloy wheels instead of the Hycross’s monotone units. It also gets a tweaked set of bumpers while the tail lamps feature Nexa’s tri-element insignia. The rest of its design looks similar to the Toyota Innova Hycross.

A teaser has revealed that the Invicto’s interior will be finished in black with champagne coloured inserts. It could also get a similar feature list as the Toyota MPV, which comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera and a suite of ADAS features like lane-keep and departure assist, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

As per the carmaker’s official website, only one variant of the MPV can be booked, which makes us believe that Maruti will only offer the Invicto in a single fully loaded variant. It will be powered by the same powertrain that powers the Hycross: a 2-litre strong hybrid powertrain putting out a combined output of 186PS and up to 206Nm. This engine comes paired with an eCVT gearbox.

Maruti will launch the Invicto on July 5, and since it’s likely to come only in the higher-end variant, we suspect its pricing to come near the Hycross’s top-end trim that’s priced at Rs 29.99 lakh. Once launched, it will be a direct rival to the Hycross and will act as a more premium alternative to the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta.
