Test mules of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 have been spotted abroad, with all of them sporting some cool touring accessories. These spy shots also give us quite an insight into what the next-generation, single-cylinder Husky range will offer.
While it was evident from the previous set of spy shots that Husqvarna has been hard at work on the styling front, the Svartpilen has also received a whole range of revisions to the frame, engine and underpinnings. Most of it seems derived from the upcoming KTM Duke range.
The little cowl above the headlight seen earlier is now replaced by a large flyscreen, presumably an optional add-on. The rear too now seems to offer mounting points for soft luggage, a luxury that is not available with the current generation bikes.
The front fender is now a pretty chunky unit, a stark contrast to the sleek units on the current generation Husky twins. While the Svartpilen 125 does get wire-spoked wheels in the international market, one next-generation test mule was spotted with alloy wheels earlier.
The current set of spy images show the bike rolling on alloys, similar to the ones seen on the KTM RC 390. These should translate to sharper handling due to the reduced gyroscopic effect.
Even after all these upgrades, the Svartpilen continues to retain its youthful aesthetic. Given Husqvarna’s dismal sales in India, it is unlikely that the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 125s will be launched in India. We do expect Husqvarna to get these upgrades onto the 250 and 401 twins as well, which should help give these bikes a new lease of life if they are launched in India.
Nevertheless, those on the lookout for a sporty 125cc bike can check out the KTM 125 Duke or KTM RC 125.
