The scooter will be introduced in a few days’ time

Yamaha is planning to introduce a new retro scooter in Southeast Asia, the patent images of which have been leaked ahead of its debut this month. Let’s dissect:

One glance at the images, and the scooter looks neo-retro-ish with the round headlight, oval tail lamp, oval indicators, metallic texture of the paint, alloy wheels, and the modern-day equipment.

Speaking of equipment, the patent of Yamaha’s new retro scooter reveals a unique vertical instrument cluster. We believe it could be an LCD unit. You can also spot two cubby storages up front, one of which should include a USB charger inside.

As for underpinnings, the scooter uses a conventional telescopic fork and twin gas shock absorbers, while stopping power comes from a single disc up front and a drum brake at the rear.

The only thing unclear from the photos is the scooter’s engine size. We believe it could be a 125cc or 110cc spec scooter as it looks commuter-ish instead of a performance-oriented one. More details will follow once the scooter is fully revealed.

So is this coming to India? Well, we don’t think so. Yamaha has a lot of international offerings which it doesn’t plan on introducing here. And this seems like one of them. Plus, we already have a retro-type 125cc scooter from Yamaha, the Fascino 125

Nevertheless, we’re excited to see what this scooter turns out to be in reality.
