The company has announced that the launch is ‘imminent.’

(UPDATE: The Ola Electric S1 has been launched in India at Rs 99,999 onwards. For bookings, availability, specifications and other details, read the launch story)

Upcoming EV maker Ola Electric has once again shared a teaser video of its new scooter, the Ola Scooter, which reveals quite a few interesting tidbits. Ola’s top boss, Bhavish Aggarwal, can be seen taking it for a short spin in Bengaluru but the bit that caught our eye was when he parked the scooter. See the video for yourself:

Did you see the vast underseat storage space on offer? It gobbled up two decently sized half-faced helmets. Yes, the helmets are placed sideways and not in the traditional manner but still, that seems huge. It will be interesting to conduct our scientifically designed storage space test, from our 125cc scooter comparison video (click here to watch that), and see whether, and by what amount, the Ola Scooter can actually manage to outscore the Suzuki Burgman Street.

Also, there is a panel above the tail lamp, which on an ICE scooter is where you would find the fuel filler cap. Could this be the flap to access the charging spot? With Ola suggesting that the launch is ‘imminent,’ we hope that our queries are answered soon.

Here’s the company’s official press statement:

Ola Scooter goes on a ride. Launch Imminent.

National, July 02, 2021: In the run up to an imminent launch, the Ola Scooter went on a ride on a recent Sunday morning in Bangalore. Ola Chairman and Group CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took the scooter out for a spin and rode by some of the most iconic spots of the city.

The Ola Scooter is a leap-frog product, packed with several industry leading innovations including the motor, the battery, the vehicle computer, and several other advanced features through innovative software – all designed by Ola.

“It was such a pleasure taking the Ola Scooter out for a spin and putting it through its paces. Its speed, range, maneuverability, ride & handling, and of course its design, and the incredible technology we’ve packed into this - all make it a game changing vehicle and a beauty to drive. I look forward to bringing this to our customers soon! ” said Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola

The Ola vehicle engineering team has been testing the Ola Scooter extensively for the last few months, where the Scooter has returned best-in-class range, speed and performance.

The Ola Scooter will be made in India for the world at the Ola Futurefactory which is coming up at record pace in Tamil Nadu India on a 500 acres site. Its first phase is nearing completion and when fully built next year, at 10 million a year capacity, it will be the world’s largest two-wheeler factory.
