Royal Enfield has lately been working on launching three new distinct motorcycles based on the 650cc platform, the Super Meteor 650, Classic 650 and the recently spied Shotgun 650. From what can be seen in the images, the Shotgun 650 being tested abroad looks production ready and might make an entry in the Indian markets later this year.
The Shotgun 650 retains the retro-styled design from the previous test mule; what's new, however, is the circular LED headlight, a first for RE. It retains the old-school halogen turn indicators. It also features a dual pod asymmetrical instrument cluster, reminiscent of the Royal Enfield Scram 411. A bigger one for readouts like speedometer, fuel indicator and odometer, and the smaller one for the tripper nav system. For a more comfortable riding position, the bike gets mid-mounted foot-pegs and easy to reach handlebars. The chopped and broad front and rear fenders add to the bobber appeal along with the upswept twin pea-shooter exhaust setup.
Powering the Shotgun 650 is the same 648cc parallel-twin engine as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The Shotgun 650 can be expected to produce the same power, which is 47.6PS and 52Nm, as no details regarding tuning have come up yet
The Shotgun 650 is suspended on a USD fork up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Unlike the earlier test mule that was seen riding on dual-tone alloy wheels, this one gets fresh new black alloys. Braking duties are handled by discs on both ends with dual-channel ABS.
We can expect Royal Enfield to launch the Shotgun 650 in India post the Super Meteor 650 launch later this year or early 2023. The Shotgun 650 most likely will be priced at around Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
