It’ll be the fourth bike based on Royal Enfield’s famed 650cc platform

(Update: The production-spec Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been unveiled. Check out the bike in our story here.)

Just when Monday blues were about to hit the boys in the ZigWheels’ office, new spy shots of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 have surfaced on the internet, giving us all a much-needed dose of freshness. This time around too, the bobber is seen with a seemingly ‘floating’ pillion seat, something that Royal Enfield could offer as an optional accessory.

Along with that, the test mule also seems to sport an accessorized handlebar, one that’s a bit lower and flatter, to give the bike a more dragster appeal, something on the lines of the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob. What that should mean is a bit more leverage when riding the bike in a sporty manner. One last new bit that can be seen on the test mule is the compact engine guard.

Its heart will be the 648cc parallel-twin engine that makes 47.5PS and 52.3Nm on Royal Enfield’s 650cc twins. The mill’s expected to make the same output figures on this one too, but the engine could be tuned differently to suit the character of the Shotgun 650.

Braking will likely be the same as the Super Meteor 650: 320mm front and 300mm rear disc. Suspension duties are handled by an inverted fork along with dual shocks. We expect it to be launched sometime later this year at a price tag of around Rs 3.15 lakh (ex-showroom). It’ll then rival the Kawasaki Vulcan S
