The Hyundai Verna has been spotted testing on our shores once again. Slated for a launch sometime in 2023, the next-gen Verna will boast the carmaker’s new design language and get crucial feature updates. These latest spy shots also give us an insight into the new styling elements that will debut in the Verna.
The Hyundai Verna, for the first time, will get connected taillamps similar to new age Hyundais like the Tucson and facelifted Venue. Its taillamps can also be seen with a funky signature a la Audis and looks neat and premium when illuminated. It’s also a size larger than before, while the front-end will get a cascading grille and headlamps placed lower down like the new Elantra.
The interior of the facelifted Verna is yet to be seen, but what we can tell you for sure is that its feature list will be spruced up. You can expect new additions such as a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the Creta, powered driver’s seat, a more advanced digital driver’s display; and mainly, presence of ADAS features as indicated by this particular spy shot.
Features such as ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof, steering-mounted audio controls, keyless entry with push button start, and a multi-info display will be carried forward. Its safety list, apart from ADAS, should include six airbags, electronic stability control, and probably a 360-degree camera as well.
The engine options should be carried forward from the existing car, which currently gets a 1-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Hyundai could also plonk in the six-speed iMT with the turbo-petrol engine as seen in most of its models.

With the significant number of updates expected, the next-gen Hyundai Verna is likely to command a premium over the current model priced from Rs 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Skoda Slavia, VW Virtus, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the Honda City.
