The Urban Cruiser is the second offering to emerge from the Toyota-Maruti partnership after the Glanza.
It is a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Except for the redesigned front fascia, most of the design elements have been borrowed from the Brezza.
It is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 8 lakh and is likely to be available in limited variants.
Toyota has teased the Urban Cruiser once more. It is expected to launch in September with official bookings confirmed to open by the end of August. The Urban Cruiser will be Toyota’s first offering in the sub-4m segment in India. The Vitara Brezza-based Urban Cruiser will be the second car from the Maruti-Toyota partnership after the Baleno-based Glanza.
From a design standpoint, it will share most of its design elements with the Vitara Brezza. But the teaser images from Toyota hint that the Urban Cruiser will have its own identity. The grille and bumper are easily distinguishable from the teaser and we can expect the tail lamps and the interior theme to follow suit. The Urban Cruiser will get the same wheel design as the Vitara Brezza, just rebadged.

Expect features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and keyless entry with push-button start to be borrowed from the Vitara Brezza. The Urban Cruiser will offer standard safety features such as ABS with EBD, dual airbags, and rear parking camera like the Brezza.

The Urban Cruiser will be powered by Maruti’s K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine with mild hybrid tech. In its current state of tune, the unit produces 104PS and 138Nm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed torque converter -- the same as, yep, you guessed it, the Maruti SUV.
In addition to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the upcoming Urban Cruiser will lock horns with the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and the upcoming Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite. At Rs 8 lakh, the expected price for the Urban Cruiser would be higher than the Vitara Brezza as it is expected to be available in limited variants.
