Details on the upcoming facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno continue to surface ahead of its launch on February 23. This time, we’ve gotten our hands on what features will be on board for each variant of the hatchback. Six options will be offered: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta (O), Alpha, and Alpha (O). Here’s a closer look at them:
Sigma
The most barebones variant of the Baleno isn’t exactly that bareboned, as there’s a fair amount of kit onboard. Here are the key bits:
Projector halogen headlamps.
LED taillamps
Body coloured bumpers
Automatic AC
Front and rear power windows, with driver’s side auto up/down.
Rear defogger.
Keyless entry.
Tilt power steering.
Dual front airbags.
ABS with EBD.
Rear parking sensors.
Brake assist.
Delta
Going up to the Delta, the Baleno’s second variant gets everything from the base Sigma and offers a fair few extra features such as:
ORVM-mounted indicators.
Body coloured door handles and ORVMs.
Chrome finish on the front grille.
Wheel covers.
7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
4-speaker sound system.
Rear parcel shelf.
Phone-connected navigation.
Electronically adjustable ORVMs.
Steering-mounted audio controls.
ESP with hill-hold assist (AGS variants only).
Zeta
The mid-spec Zeta marks another significant step up in features over the Delta, While we’re yet to know what’s coming in the new Zelta (O), here’s a closer look at what it gets over the Delta:
Automatic LED projector headlamps.
16-inch alloy wheels.
Chrome on door handles.
60:40 split rear seats.
4.2-inch colour TFT instrument cluster.
Rear adjustable headrest.
Front footwell lamp.
7-inch Smartplay Pro touchscreen infotainment with advanced voice assist and OTA updates.
2 tweeters.
Connected car technology with remote controls.
Alexa connect.
Rear fast charging USB port.
Height adjustable driver’s seat.
Telescopic steering wheel.
Push button start/stop.
Rear wiper with washer.
6 airbags.
Rear view camera.
Alpha
As the name suggests, the Alpha is very much the creme de la creme of the Baleno lineup. While we're yet to get details about the Alpha (O), here’s all the bells and whistles the standard Alpha gets over the Zeta:
16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
LED fog lamps.
LED DRLs.
UV cut glass.
Leather-wrapped steering wheel.
9-inch Smartplay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment.
ARKAMYS-tuned sound system.
Head-up display.
Cruise control.
Auto-fold ORVMs.
Auto-dimming IRVM.
360-degree camera.
Powertrains
Under the hood, we’ve got just the 90PS 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine with idle start-stop functionality. Transmission options are a 5-speed manual and an AMT. While all trims are specced with the former as standard, the latter is only available in the Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Expect the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno to be priced from Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, and the upcoming facelifted Toyota Glanza.
