The recently unveiled Mahindra XUV700, at introductory prices starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), is the newest three-row SUV kid on the block. Sure there’s still some variants that are yet to get a price tag, but we know the XUV700 will have a raft of options. Available in 5- and 7-seater layouts, the SUV will be offered in the MX and AX (AdrenoX) trims. The latter expands to the AX3, AX5, and AX7. Here’s the key features that each trim has to offer:
MX
5-seater Manual prices: Rs 11.99 lakh (Petrol), Rs 12.49 lakh (Diesel)
Starting off with the most barebones XUV700 trim in the lineup, the MX can be specced with both the 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options. But the petrol mill, like is the case for all trims, will be limited to a front-wheel drivetrain only. For the diesel engine the MX is detuned to 155PS/360Nm, and is limited to a 6-speed manual gearbox and front wheel drive. Despite that Mahindra has managed to keep it decently specced with features such as:
LED tail lights.
17-inch steel wheels.
8-inch infotainment system.
7-inch instrument cluster.
Android Auto connectivity.
Keyless entry.
Steering-mounted controls.
Power-adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators.
Day/Night IRVM,
AX3
Price: Rs 13.99 lakh ( 5-seater Petrol MT)
As the name suggests, the AdrenoX trims get more technologically rich than the variant before it. It gets the more powerful 185PS state of tune from its 2.2-litre diesel engine, as well as the 6-speed torque converter automatic and all-wheel drive options. Here’s what the AX3 gets over the MX:
10.25-inch dual-screen digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system.
AdrenoX connected car tech with over 60 connected features.
Amazon Alexa AI connectivity.
6-speaker audio system with sound moods.
Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
LED DRLs, and front fog lamps.
17-inch steel wheels with covers.
AX5
Price: Rs 14.99 lakh (5-seater Petrol MT)
The AX5 is the middle ground of the AdrenoX lineup, adding more premium features compared to the AX3 below it. Features include:
Panoramic sunroof.
17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Curtain airbags.
LED headlamps.
Sequential turn indicators.
Cornering lamps.
AX7
We head to the creme de la creme of the XUV700 lineup which is loaded with all the bells and whistles possible. Here’s what it gets over the AX5:
ADAS driver assists ( adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, autonomous emergency braking and more).
Driver drowsiness alerts.
Dual-zone climate control.
18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Air purifier.
Leatherette upholstery.
Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever.
6-way power adjustable seat with memory function.
Side airbags.
That’s not all, as the XUV700 will get optional packs that includes a 360-degree camera, flush-fitting door handles, wireless charging, a Sony 3D sound system, wireless charging, blind view monitor, and an electric parking brake.
Mahindra will reveal the prices for the remaining variants soon, but you may have to wait until October for deliveries to commence. Its rivals will include three-row SUVs like the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar, as well as smaller SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and the Tata Harrier.
