Toyota recently took the wraps off the Hilux pickup truck in India ahead of its launch in March 2022. It’ll be offered in two trims, Standard and High, that’ll have a lot of features in common. Here’s what each variant offers:
Standard
The most barebones trim in the Hilux’ lineup which is loaded with kit and is offered with the 204PS 2.8-litre diesel that is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 4WD as standard. It also comes with off-road cred like active traction control, a tyre angle monitor, automatic hill assist control, downhill assist control, electronic differential lock, and an automatic limited slip differential. Key features in this trim includes:
Dusk sensing halogen LED headlights with LED turn indicators.
Halogen rear combination tail lamps.
Silver surround on front grille.
Steel step painted rear bumper.
Machine finished alloy wheels.
8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Manual AC.
Fabric seats.
Manually adjustable driver’s seat.
6-speaker sound system.
Cruise control.
7 SRS airbags.
ABS with VSC and brake assist.
Front and rear parking sensors.
Cooled upper glove box.
Driving modes: ECO PWR.
High
Coming into the High variant, the additions aren’t exactly extreme but enough to give it a premium feel to the pickup truck. It also gains a 6-speed automatic gearbox on top of extra torque (500Nm). Here’s more on what it gains over the base variant:
LED headlights with LED DRLs.
LED rear combination tail lamps.
Piano Black grille with chrome surround.
Steep step chrome rear bumper.
Chrome beltline.
Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents.
Leather seats.
Power adjustable driver's seat.
Centre console box with soft armrest.
Colour Options
Toyota is offering the Hilux in five body shades: Emotional Red, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, Super White, and Gray Metallic. While the base Standard trim will be limited to the Super White and Gray Metallic shades, the top-spec High will get other four paint options including the base trim’s Gray Metallic option.
Bookings for the Toyota Hilux are open at a token amount of Rs 50,000 online and Rs 1 lakh at authorised dealerships. Deliveries will commence by April. Prices are likely to start from above Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will be its only rival in the country.
