Reise Moto started off with manufacturing tyres in India but has come a long way since then. To cater to the needs of many enthusiasts, they have also been importing premium riding gear. Recently, Reise Moto also launched their first riding gear and accessories store in Andheri West, Mumbai. For the last few months, we have been using the Spidi Tek Net which is a premium textile jacket for daily commuting as well as on shoots, and here is a detailed review.
Design, Comfort, & Ventilation
The Spidi Tek Net is a really good-looking jacket with a premium finish and is available in six colourways. What we have for this review is one of the louder colour schemes combining black, blue, and red with Spidi branding in white on the right-hand sleeve.
The jacket features mesh panels on the chest, arms, and back which surely do help with extreme climate in the summer season. The design includes adjustment buttons at the arms, wrists, and straps for the waist. There is also a clip connection at the bottom, which can attach to pants.
When it comes to sizing, I usually wear a Small or Medium depending on the brand. In this case, I got the Small size and the fit was extremely snug. After just a few days with the jacket, I really appreciated the ventilation that it offers as I was riding around in extreme heat and not facing any issues. Another thing that makes it really comfortable to wear for longer hours is its lightweight construction.
Protection, Visibility, & Storage
the automobile community
The jacket is constructed from high-tenacity polyester and includes Level 1 Warrior Lite removable shoulder protectors and Level 1 Forcetech removable elbow protectors. There’s also a provision for adding an optional back protector, which is sold separately. For visibility, the jacket is equipped with 3M Scotchlite reflectors on the front, back, and arms This offers good visibility to other motorists while riding around at night.
I do wish that the back protector was offered as standard as it costs a hefty Rs 6,966. That being said, Spidi is a premium brand so the target audience might be okay with shelling out a little more money. Also, if you were thinking of making use of a back protector from another jacket, that will not be possible. This is because the Tek Net jacket is compatible only with the Warrior series back protector that makes use of velcro attachments.
In the storage department, it gets three external pockets and one internal pocket which is more than ample space for daily essentials. Internationally, Spidi also offers thermal and waterproof layers (available separately). Currently, they are not available on the ReiseMoto website so that is something that might be added in the near future.
Verdict
Now, I have used a bunch of entry-level textile jackets in the past and while they do get the job done, they aren't the best when it comes to comfort. After my time spent with the Tek Net, I would surely recommend investing in a premium jacket like this one. It is a great option for daily commuting in the city or even for long hours out on the highway. Especially in places with hot climates, the ventilation and comfort that it offers is unmatched.
It is great to see ReiseMoto bringing down premium riding gear to the Indian market but priced at Rs 18,699, the Tek Net is expensive for a textile jacket. And no riding jacket is complete without a back protector so that is a total of Rs 25,665. India is a price-conscious market but there are many motorcycle enthusiasts who are looking for premium gear, so this would surely appeal to them.
