Benelli TNT 25 vs Mahindra Mojo vs KTM 390 Duke: Spec Comparison

Parallel twin motorcycles of the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300, the Yamaha YZF-R3 and the Hyosung GT250R might turn out to be a out of budget for some people. This has created a need for performance focused single cylinder offering in the country. Currently ruling the segment is the KTM 390 Duke, but in the recent past, two new offerings have been launched in this segment – the Mahindra Mojo and more recently the Benelli TNT 25. How do these three offerings compare in their specifications?

Engine: Although all the three motorcycles have a single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor, that’s pretty much where the similarities end. The Benelli TNT 25 sports a 249cc unit that produces 28.55PS of power at 9,800 rpm and 21.61Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. As opposed to the other two in discussion, the TNT 25 makes its power and torque marginally higher on the rev range. This unit comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. 

The other new offering in this class, the Mahindra Mojo comes with a 295cc unit from which it churns out 27.19PS at 8,000rpm and 30Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Although the Mojo makes slightly lesser power than the Benelli TNT 25, it gains an edge of almost 9Nm. However, the Mojo loses its advantage due to its weight. It tips the scale at 165kg which is 6 kg heavier than the TNT 25. 

Before the launch of both these offerings, the KTM 390 Duke has been ruling the roost. Manufactured in Chakan at the Bajaj Auto factory, the KTM 390 Duke gets a 373cc unit that is good for 43.5PS and 35Nm. Aside from an advantage in power and torque figures, the KTM 390 Duke also gains an edge in terms of weight being just 139kg.

Features: In terms of features, all three of them come with upside down forks up front and a monoshock setup at the back. Braking duties too are performed by disc brakes up front as well as at the back. The Mojo and the TNT 25 get semi-digital clocks while the KTM 390 Duke gets an all-digital console. The 390 Duke is also the only bike among the three to be offered with ABS. As far as tyres go, the 390 Duke gets Metzeler rubber as standard fitment while the TNT 25 offers it as optional fitment. The Mojo on the other hand comes with Pirelli tyres as stock. 

Price: In terms of price, the three are more or less similar. Out of the three, the 390 Duke is the most expensive at Rs 1.95 lakh. The TNT 25 ranges from Rs 1.68 lakh to Rs 1.75 lakh while the Mojo carries a sticker price of Rs 1.63 lakh.
