Tata Nexon

Tata Motors has launched the CNG variants of the Nexon, with prices starting at Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the first CNG vehicle in India to be paired with a turbo petrol engine. It gets Tata’s dual-cylinder technology with a combined capacity of 60 litres, opening up a boot space of 321 litres. It is offered in eight variants and apart from the Nexon’s usual features list, it additionally boasts a panoramic sunroof as well.

Tata Nexon Key Highlights

Features: The Tata Nexon is packed with features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, push-button start/stop, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, 8-speaker JBL sound system and connected car features. A Panoramic sunroof has been added with the CNG variants. Passenger safety is ensured by 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX and a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor.

Engine: The Tata Nexon has two engine options in its powertrain: a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that returns an output of 120 PS and 170 Nm and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that delivers 115 PS and 260 Nm. The turbo petrol engine can now also be had with a CNG kit that churns out 100 PS and 170 Nm in CNG mode. For transmission, the turbo petrol engine can be mated to either a 5-speed MT, 6-speed MT, a 6-speed torque converter automatic or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The diesel unit can be coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The CNG kit only gets a 6-speed MT and returns 24 km/kg. It measures 3995 mm in length, 1804 mm in width, 1620 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2498 mm.

Rivals: The Tata Nexon rivals the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV3XO, Kia Sonet, Toyota Taison, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.

Variants: The standard Tata Nexon is available in four broad trims: Smart, Pure, Creative and Fearless. The CNG variant is offered in eight trims: Smart (O), Smart+, Smart+ S, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative+, Fearless+ PS. Colour options include eight monotone shades: Calgary White, Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Flame Red, Pure Grey, Creative Ocean, Fearless Purple and Atlas Black. You can also opt for dual-tone shades with either Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Flame Red and Fearless Purple paired with a Black roof or either of the Daytona Grey, Flame Red and Creative Ocean paired with a White Roof.
