Vespa Elegante 150
Vespa Elegante 150 Overview
Piaggio has updated its Vespa range of 150cc scooters in India with single-channel ABS. This results in a price bump of Rs 6,000 to 8,000 over the non-ABS variant. Aside from this, the scooter remains unchanged. The new Vespa Elegante Special Edition is the most expensive scooter to be manufactured in India. Readers will remember that the Vespa Elegante made its debut few years back in a 125cc avatar and now the former has been discontinued with this new 150cc displacement version. The styling of the scooter is similar to its sibling and it features the iconic curvy lines that has made the Vespa scooters stand out from competition. Visual distinctions on the new Elegante include a smoked fly screen that enhances its retro feel further and split leather seats with contrast white piping.
Additional accessories for the new 150cc scooter include colour co-ordinated helmet and all round chrome guard kit along with a front bumper guard. The Vespa Elegante also gets exclusive shades of Beige Unico and Pearl White. According to the legendary Italian scooter manufacturer, the new colour has been inspired from the picturesque beaches of the Italian coastline. Mechanically the new scooter is similar to the Vespa SXL 150 and VXL 150. The Italian scooter is powered by a 50cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor that develops 11.6PS at 7,000rpm and a peak torque of 11.5Nm at 5,500rpm. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped in tubeless tyres. Braking duties are handled by ventilated front disc brake and drum brake at rear. The Vespa Elegante Special Edition will be sold only through the exclusive Motoplex dealerships.
