Back in February, Mahindra introduced the new Z8 Select (Z8 S) variant of the Scorpio N. Priced from Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it sits below the top-spec Z8 and Z8 L variants and is also offered in an exclusive Midnight Black shade. If you're considering this new variant, read further for a complete walkaround of the Scorpio N Z8 S variant in our image gallery.
At the front, the Scorpio N Z8 S features chrome grille slats, instead of the silver ones found in lower-spec variants of the SUV. It is also equipped with LED projector headlights, DRLs, and fog lamps, and boasts a muscular appearance, a characteristic trait of the Scorpio N.
The Z8 S variant rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and includes silver elements on the side body cladding. It also features a silver roof rack, but misses out on the chrome door handles found in the top-spec variants.

At the rear, the Z8 S variant features a metallic strip on the tailgate and a rear spoiler. Additionally, it shares many elements with its higher-end variants, such as LED tail lamps and a rear wiper with washer.
The Scorpio N Z8 S boasts a black and brown interior theme, complemented by silver accents along the AC vents, door handles, and centre console. Additionally, it offers leatherette seat upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a sunroof, to enhance the cabin's premium ambiance.
The Z8 S variant is equipped with features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Alexa voice command system, a 7-inch colour TFT semi-digital instrument cluster, and Type-C USB ports for second-row passengers. However, it lacks features like push-button start/stop, dual-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, and 6-way powered driver’s seats, which are available in its higher-spec variants.
On the safety front, it gets ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors with reverse camera.
With the Scorpio Z8 S variant, you have the option to configure it with either a 200 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 175 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. However, if you want the four-wheel-drive system, you'll need to opt for the higher-end Z8 variants.
Prices for the Scorpio Z8 S variant start from Rs 16.99 lakh and go up to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the transmission and engine choice you pick. It is a body-on-frame SUV alternative to the mid-size SUVs like Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and MG Hector.
