Hayabusa Key Highlights

Price: Suzuki Hayabusa is available in 4 paint schemes: Metallic Thunder Gray/Candy Daring Red, Metallic Mat Black No.2/Glass Sparkle Black, Pearl Vigor Blue/Pearl Brilliant White and the special edition Glass Blaze Orange and Glass Sparkle Black. It is available in two variants: the standard Hayabusa is priced at Rs 16,90,000, and the Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Celebration Edition is priced at Rs 17,70,000 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Design: The third-gen Suzuki Hayabusa looks much like its previous two iterations, just sharper and more aerodynamic. Although the ‘Busa is still not that much of a looker, its wind tunnel-developed aerodynamic design has become sharper, with larger air vents that facilitate better airflow throughout the bodywork. That said, it is still a long motorcycle, with a front-heavy design. Adding a bit of modern appeal, is the redesigned headlight and turn indicators and a sleeker tail section. Its hump-shaped pillion cowl completes the rear. It comes with a pair of beefy chrome exhausts, which further add to the sporty appeal of this superbike.

Features: The latest-gen Hayabusa has seen a host of new features over its predecessor. For starters, it comes with all-LED illumination, with completely redesigned lights. The analogue speedometer and tachometer units now have a small TFT in the middle that reads out information such as the levels of the electronic aids, trip-related information, gear position indicator and a clock, along with other useful data. The electronic aids include 10 levels of traction and wheelie control, three levels of engine braking control, along with launch control. It has a Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (riding modes), which comprises three standard presets and three user-defined custom presets. The motorcycle also comes with cruise control, a bi-directional quickshifter (for seamless gear shifts) and even a hill-hold assist, as standard features.

Engine: Powering the Suzuki Hayabusa is a 1340cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine, which works in conjunction with a 6-speed gearbox and produces 190PS and 150Nm. To rein in the power, the manufacturer has provided the bike with a six-level IMU-assisted electronics suite that includes lean-sensitive traction control and ABS, wheelie control, launch control, and engine brake control.

Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: Although the company has used the same twin-spar aluminium frame from the second-gen Busa, there is a revised rear subframe. The front inverted fork and the rear linked monoshock are both fully adjustable KYB units. Braking is done via a 320mm dual-disc unit with 4-piston Brembo Stylema calipers up front and a 260mm disc with 1-piston Nissin caliper at the rear. The Busa rolls on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 120-section front and 190-section rear high-performance Bridgestone Battlax S22 tyres. The bike weighs 266kg (kerb), with its fuel tank capacity being 20 litres. It has a seat height of 800mm, and a 125mm ground clearance.

Rivals: The Suzuki Hayabusa no longer has the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R to tussle with. But there are still a few other litre-class track-scorchers you could buy instead of the Hayabusa, like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, BMW S 1000 RR, and Ducati Panigale V4.

Variants: The Suzuki Hayabusa is offered in three colours: Metallic Thunder Gray/Candy Daring Red (CJH), Metallic Matte Black No.2/Glass Sparkle Black (KGL) and Pearl Vigor Blue/Pearl Brilliant White (JWN). They are all identical in terms of mechanicals, features, and price.

Q. Which bike's better is Kawasaki H2 SX or Hayabhusa?
  • Both the bikes are good in their own forte. The third-gen Suzuki Hayabusa is now treading a different path than its predecessors, one that is more sporty and less hyper-touring. Its glorious purpose has changed from making you want to go fast in a straight line to make you want to go fast everywhere. It wants to attack corners, it expects you to hustle, it demands you to stay vigilant. It masks its weight well and is even a good commuter. On the other hand, Powering the motorcycle is the Ninja H2's second-generation supercharged in-line four engines that generate 200PS of power at 11,000rpm. However, Kawasaki claims that the motor has been tuned to offer a smoother delivery with better low to mid-range tractability. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision.
