After the loss to New Zealand in Team India’s opening ICC World T20 encounter earlier this week, MS Dhoni has more trouble to deal with; this time off the field though. The Hummer H2 that he had bought for around Rs 1 crore, in 2009, was ‘mistakenly’ registered as a Mahindra Scorpio by the transport department in 2009, according to the district transport office of Ranchi.

As a result, the Indian limited overs cricket captain is now required to deposit a meagre sum of Rs 53,000, opposed to the Rs 4 lakh registration charges for the vehicle.

MS Dhoni escapes heavy registration fee

“He has paid tax till 2010. He will have to pay one-time along with penalty as per rules,” said Nagendra Paswan, DTO Ranchi.

“The typist, while uploading details of Dhoni's Hummer, couldn't find the vehicle's model type in options back then, as it is an international brand. As you can't put in any further details until you select a model, he must have selected Scorpio as model type for Dhoni's car. It was a typing mistake” he added.

Talking about his garage, MS Dhoni’s automobile possessions perfectly complement his glistening trophy cabinet. Despite his well-documented love for motorcycles, the wicket-keeper batsman is also the proud owner of several other cars apart from the Hummer H2, which, by the way, is no more into production. The GMC Sierra and Audi Q7 are among the other fancy ones in this lot.
