Price: The BMW M 1000 XR is available in a single ‘Competition’ variant with Black Storm Metallic/M Motorsport livery. It is priced at Rs 45,00,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Features: The BMW M 1000 XR comes loaded with advanced features. It gets a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and navigation. The bike has keyless operation and comes with five riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro (3 levels). The M 1000 XR also gets a host of standard features including cruise control, launch control, cornering traction control (DTC), wheelie control, slide control, engine brake control, pit lane limiter and automatic hill start control (HSC) pro. Additionally, the bike gets an all-LED lighting setup with an adaptive headlight, adjustable sport windscreen, heated grips, Akrapovic titanium exhaust, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a USB charging socket - all as standard. The M Competition package is also standard on the bike making it 3kg lighter than the regular variant. It includes adjustable M brake and clutch levers, M Carbon wheels, M rider and pillion footrests, M GPS lap trigger and carbon fenders, chain guard, side panels, ignition steering lock cover, and cockpit interior trim. BMW also offers two different seat heights: a low 820mm seat and a higher 870mm seat, it also has an anti-theft alarm and customers can also opt for the standard S 1000 XR windscreen.
Engine: The BMW M 1000 XR is equipped with the same 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four cylinder engine from the BMW M 1000 RR that produces 203PS at 12,750rpm and 113Nm at 11,000rpm on the sports tourer, it is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with slip-and-assist clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter. The bike also has revised gear ratios and a 47 teeth rear sprocket. BMW claims that the sports tourer accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds and 0 to 200kmph in just 7.3 seconds, it has a top speed of 278kmph. The bike has a 20-litre fuel tank capacity.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The BMW M 1000 XR sits on a cast aluminium frame, it gets an electronically adjustable 45mm inverted fork and a monoshock. Braking is handled by twin 320mm discs with 4-piston radial callipers at the front and a 220 mm, single-piston floating calliper rear brake. The M 1000 XR rolls on 17-inch carbon fibre wheels, wrapped with 120-section front and 200-section rear tyres. It has a standard seat height of 850mm (which can be reduced to 820mm or increased to 870mm) and weighs 223kg kerb.
Rivals: The BMW M 1000 XR only competes against the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS, which is not available in India yet.
