The KTM 200 Duke BS6 has been launched in India at Rs 1.72 lakh (ex-showroom India). The new 200 Duke comes at a premium of Rs 10,496 over the old BS4 motorcycle. While most BS6 KTMs have received a price premium of Rs 5,000 - Rs 6,000, you are paying a larger price premium for the new 200 Duke as there is a major overhaul in terms of styling as well as the mechanical department.
Despite meeting BS6 emission norms, the performance from the 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine has not changed. It continues to produce 25PS and 19.3Nm like it did in its BS4 avatar.
KTM has finally given the 200 Duke the same split-type tubular steel trellis frame that you find on the 250 Duke. Thanks to the new bolted-on rear subframe, the rider seat is longer and roomier, making the 200 Duke a more comfortable bike to commute on or even venture out on to the highway. There is also a larger 13.5-litre fuel tank which should extend your range by a considerable amount. Kerb weight of the bike has gone up to 159kg, which is 11 kilos heavier than the BS4 bike.
The front USD fork and preload-adjustable monoshock are carried over from the old bike. Even the braking hardware remains the same but it now gets dual-channel ABS.
