Features: BYD has equipped the Sealion 7 with a slew of features, such as LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, driver’s seat with memory settings and lumbar support, multi-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone AC, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a heads-up display, a 12-speaker sound system, and a wireless phone charger. The safety kit includes multiple airbags, an electronic stability programme (ESP), hill hold control, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), an emergency call system, and ADAS.
Motor: Powering the Sealion 7 are two battery packs: an 82.5 kWh and a 91.3 kWh paired with either a single motor or a dual-motor setup with the latter available as an all-wheel drive. The international-spec EV comes in 3 trims – each offering a different claimed range. For example, the base variant delivers a WLTP range of 482 km, while the top-spec trim level offers a range of 502 km. In terms of charging, the EV supports up to 150 kW and 230 kW DC as well as 11 kW AC charging speeds. The fastest charging at a suitable charging station can charge it from 10-80 percent in 24 minutes. The 11 kW AC wall box can take about 15 hours to fully charge the battery. Power output for the entry-level model is 331 PS and 380 Nm, while the top-spec versions make 530 PS and 690 Nm. The latter can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds.
Rivals: The upcoming BYD Sealion 7 will compete against the likes of the Kia EV6, Volvo EX40 single motor variant, and Hyundai Ioniq 5 in India.

BYD has officially announced a new crossover offering for the Indian market, the Sealion 7. It will be launched by March 2025 and will also be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This will be the brand’s fourth all-electric car after the Atto 3, e7 Max, and Seal. For the Indian market, the Sealion 7 will be a premium electric vehicle (EV) with a design similar to the Seal. Internationally, it is available in 2 battery packs: an 82.5 kWh and a 91.3 kWh across 2WD and AWD options. The claimed range of the Sealion can vary from 482 km to 502 km depending on the battery pack and drivetrain option.
