After taking the first steps towards an alternate future with their i8 plug-in hybrid sports car, BMW now joins their Bavarian brethren by bringing in the flagship EV - the iX.
Powered by two electric motors on front and rear axles, the iX puts 326PS, 630Nm to the floor through massive 22 inch wheels. Its 76.6 kWh battery pack is good for an ARAI certified 440 kilometers and charging options include a 11kW home charger and it can accept up to 150kW DC fast charging.
Like a few other BMWs before it, that large kidney ‘grill’ is a little over the top but the rest of the design more than makes up for it. In the flesh the ‘less is more’ really works and the iX design grows on you. The Interiors are a real treat and a complete departure from BMW design language. Unlike the other EVs we’ve experienced it feels special.
The iX is the first of many electrics expected from BMW in the next few years with two more destined to show up before July 2022.
